FILTHY FRIDAY

Here's another new installment to xTDHx FILTHY FRIDAY's will be a fun little addition, bringing you some dirty tracks just in time for those weekend drives and house party rager's. This week I put together a nice 5 SONG DUBSTEP PLAYLIST. I searched far and wide to find these gems, so enjoi. My favorites of this batch are Imogen Heap- Headlock(Abstract Dubstep Remix) and BOTH versions of "Warrior", the 12th Planet Remix AND the L.A. Riots Remix. The Porter Robinson song is insane too, its a dubstep/electro blend that you surely haven't heard before.

SWEET TRACK #1: TIGER LOVE-PUSSY COCAINE

This is a new installment to THE DIRTY HYPE. Each week we will be blessing your speakers with 1 SWEET TRACK that happened to catch our attention. This week we are starting it out right with a retro sounding track from acclaimed drug enthusiasts TIGER LOVE. This song is like a time machine. You're going to feel like you're having an orgy in 1980, snorting cocaine off girls bums. Few songs can bring you to a place like that these days..... it's a real breathe of fresh air in the music industry. jk... but not really. The song's title is VERY fitting: PUSSY COCAINE.

NEW CD RELEASE: BASSNECTAR- WILDSTYLE METHOD

I'm completely aware that I'm not the FIRST one to post this. This CD is almost a week old now and that means I'm a week late on posting it! Bassnectar is leading the way in the dub step genre and continues to produce amazing tracks on a regular basis. There's no need for me to explain him, his self-definition is far more accurate: "A free-form project that merges music, art, new media, social involvement, and community values; dedicated to a constantly evolving ethos of collaborative creation, self reinvention, and boundary-pushing experimentation." He is amazingly brilliant and it shows in his music.... and his quotes apparently. haha

Aside from giving you my 3 favorite songs off the Bassnectar CD I'm going to give you some songs from two of my favorite Dub Step producers: NERO and ZEDS DEAD. They are probably my top 2 favorites when it comes to dirty. They both continually put out jaw dropping remixes as well as producing their own originals. I don't want to go too in depth about either one of them because I will surely be posting ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS for both of them in the future. Below are 2 songs from each of them. ONE MORE REMINDER- I SORT THROUGH NEW MUSIC LIKE A CRAZY PERSON SO EVERY SONG I POST IS TOP NOTCH.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: THE HUNDRED IN THE HANDS

When I start to make a post like this I feel like I'm doing an injustice to this blog because this music isn't "DIRTY" enough. But every once in awhile I stumble across a band that is sooooooo good that I would be doing EVERYONE an injustice if I didn't post their music.

The Hundred in the Hands fuse Synth-Pop with Post-Punk and dreamy pop elements, making for a sound that is danceable and airy. This Brooklyn based duo of Jason Friedman and Eleanor Everdell balance their duties with Friedman handling the guitars and beats while Everdell provides vocals and controls the keyboards. They released their debut single "Undressed in Dresden" in April 2010, then an EP "The Desert" in May. With an amazingly fresh sound The Hundred in the Hands is sure to have you pressing repeat over and over.

PS- THE VIDEO BELOW IS LITERALLY THE BEST MUSIC VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN. The editing is absolutely phenomenal and the psycho- delusional story line is amazing. (Just go to youtube to watch it) :

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SKRILLEX

Sonny John Moore, also known as Skrillex, is an electronic musician from Los Angeles, California, well known for his role as the former frontman for the post-hardcore band From First To Last. In late fall of 2007 he embarked on his very first tour as a solo artist, the Team Sleep Tour with Team Sleep, Strata, and Monster in the Machine. After recruiting a new band lineup, Moore toured North America on the Alternative Press Tour and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press' annual 100 Bands You Need To Know issue. In June, 2008 Moore went into recording for his debut album, titled Bells, alongside producer Noah Shain. He is currently signed to Atlantic Records, and runs an imprint label called Owsla.

Skrillex is a multi talented, multi project one-man machine. He is versed in many different genres including Dub Step, Drum & Bass, Electro-House, etc. He has recorded an electronic EP titled "My Name Is Skrillex", released on June 07, 2010. He has also been DJing a lot under the name "Skrillex'. On top of this he has really been making a name for himself as a producer / remixer.

Skrillex has quickly become one of my favorite dub step artists. This set of songs will probably leave you thinking the same exact thing.  The stand out tracks for me are FATHER SAID and THE WIND BLOWS. They are all bangers though.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: RAC (Remix Artist Collective)

Andre Allen Anjos is a 25 year old music artist with multiple years experience of remixing, producing and song-writing. Originally from Porto, Portugal now residing in Portland, OR. He is the founder and coordinator of Remix Artist Collective.

"One of the main reasons I started RAC was out of frustration with the current remix scene. I was just plain bored with the lack of variety at the time. Things have definitely come along just in the past year or so with more and more bands remixing each others songs. I strive to create remixes for music lovers who want to hear the song re-invented, not just re-interpreted and chopped up. I hope people experience the original songs in a different way that not only complements the original, but takes them somewhere else.
The idea behind RAC Vol 1 was simply to celebrate that idea by compiling songs that we felt should flow together, and just like most DJs create an in-depth organic mixtape of sorts without the need to stick to particular genre. I love all of the bands included and it’s probably the only “mix” on which you’d hear both Robbers On High Street and Chromeo. One of the main criteria when choosing the bands was the variety intended, but above all, the quality of the original songs. Many artists have remix albums that are simply collections of past work, but this one was built up from the start for this purpose."
